Visits from Grandmas, Pumpkins, Smiles and More!

We've been having a great time with Hudson the past couple of weeks. During the week I've been trying to get out and about each day even if it's just to grab a drink at Sonic, to run an errand or to hang out with some friends. I had my first errand running experience where he was not happy to be out. He got pretty fussy and very upset so we turned around and headed back home before we really got anything accomplished. We tried again the next day and things were much better. We've been trying to meet Jon for lunch a couple times a week and that's been a lot of fun. Jon took off last Tuesday and we had a good time hanging around Austin. We've been trying to go on walks as much as possible and I've gotten better at letting Kaiser come with us too. Jon's mom came to visit us for the day last week and we had a great time having lunch, shopping for Hudson and hanging at the house. Then this week my mom and Gene came and spent Tuesday night and we had a really nice time with them.

  • Hudson is smiling all the time now and we can tell he is smiling at us which is a cool feeling.
  • He just started to stick his tongue out a couple of days ago and he's started to make those adorable baby "coos" the past day or two.
  • His neck is getting stronger and his head control is getting better and better.
  • He is awake more and more during the day and is more alert and aware of his surroundings and doesn't like to be put down in his bouncy or swing for as long as he used to, so I've used the baby bjorn a few times this week so I can get some chores done and keep him happy.
  • He still likes his paci but has also discovered his hand and fingers and has started to suck on those.
  • He gets kind of grumpy when I put him in his car seat to go on a walk or go somewhere in the car, but as soon as the stroller or car gets moving he'll calm down most of the time.
  • He has held onto his first ball...it's called an O-Ball and is perfect for his little fingers to grab onto.
  • We've moved onto size 1 diapers and he's grown out of some newborn clothes.
  • He really doesn't like to have a wet or dirty diaper and will let you know when he wants to be changed.
  • He still likes to be swaddled tightly at night but less and less during the day.
  • He wakes up for one maybe two feedings at night....just depends on the night. Nursing is still going great and he will also take a pumped bottle like a champ from anyone--which has made running errands or getting out for long stretches very helpful.
  • I feel like he can see further distances and notices more around him and he likes to look at his mobile when laying in his crib.
We are so proud and amazed of his growth and accomplishments and really feel like the past week or so has been a big time of change for him. Here are pics from Weeks 5 & 6 and that makes me officially caught up and up to date! We are headed for our first out of town trip tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed that Hudson likes road trips!
