4th Week

Hudson's fourth week (which was two weeks ago) was the first week where it was just me and Hudson at home together. I was kinda nervous that I might be sad and emotional, but it was actually a great week. I wasn't lonely like I thought I might be...and Hudson and I stayed busy! We got out of the house almost everyday and took it easy at home a couple of days. We had a play date at Amanda's with Laura and McKenna, we went to Target one day with Laura and McKenna, we met Jon for lunch one day and also went to see Angela and the girls. We went on several walks with Kaiser and I was able to actually get some good naps in. Jon's cousins Rebecca and her hubby Kirk, and Patrick and his girlfriend Megan brought us dinner one night, our friends Kyle and Briana brought dinner another night and Laura brought dinner over too! (My aunt had set up a "care calendar" and for the four or five weeks, we had friends and family bring us dinner a few nights a week. It has been so nice and helpful and great to see people. Thanks Angela!!)

My sister headed home but before she left we took some Longhorn pics and didn't realize that Hudson's diaper leaked and got all over Julie (hehe)...a few pics are below. I also put a pic below of his little birth mark on the back of his neck. The Dr. said it is known as a "stork bite." I guess that's because if a stork really did deliver your baby to your doorstep, he would grab onto the little neck skin :)  Since Hudson's umbilical cord fell off a few days prior, we were able to give him his first real bath!

  • Hudson is getting bigger and bigger...I need to quit worrying about whether or not he's getting enough milk because he's outgrowing his newborn diapers and his newborn clothes now. His tummy is getting bigger and bigger and now I'm even noticing his face is getting a little chubbiness to it.
  • He is making eye contact with us now and he is locking into certain objects and likes to look at the toys hanging from his car seat handle. He also likes looking at his little look book with the black and white images.
  • Tummy time is hit or miss with him...he is usually happy for most of it and then gets fussy toward the end. But we are also spending more time on his back as well inside his little play area. He's liking looking at the toys that hang down.
  • He loves his swing...probably the best of all his spots to hang out. We can get him calm and put him in there for a good 2-4 hour nap! If he's not swaddled up he usually ends up with his hands by his face or head and it's pretty cute.
  • With his baths, we've tried the infant tub a couple times but have switched over to a different little bather for the time being that he likes better in the kitchen sink. He's content for most his baths.
  • Since we discovered the 5 S's, he's so much easier to calm down when he does have those fussy moments. He really likes being swaddled and likes to hang out in his swing.
We CAN'T believe Hudson is already 4 weeks old!! Time is flying by!
