Happy 4th Anniversary to Us!

Our 4th wedding anniversary was on May 5th and instead of going out of town to celebrate this year, we decided to stick around home to be with Hudson. My mom was in town visiting that week, so one night she watched Hudson and we went on a date. Dinner at Truluck’s followed by a movie at Alamo Drafthouse was quite the treat! Another night we celebrated with some champagne at home and actually pulled out our wedding video which was fun to watch and we are so glad that we have a wedding video. We are so happy and can’t believe how fast the first 4 years of marriage have gone by!

8 Months Old

Well, as I’m writing this, Hudson is already 8 1/2 months old….but the pictures below are from a couple weeks ago and here are some things that Hudson was up to in between 7 and 8 months:

  • Still army crawling all over the place
  • Loves to pull his baskets of toys over to find the perfect toy to play with
  • Finally is sitting on his own
  • Eating 3 meals of solid food a day….typically oatmeal and a fruit in the morning and then a combo of different fruits and vegetables for lunch and dinner
  • I am still breastfeeding exclusively although I am nursing him less since he is eating more solid foods now
  • Loves feeding himself the little Gerber puff snacks
  • Enjoys time in his exer-saucer and doorway jumper
  • Still in size 3 diapers and 6-12 month clothes
  • Still naps better at his babysitter’s house than at home but he still has a morning and afternoon nap and then he’ll go to sleep at 8pm and will wake anywhere from 6:30 to 8:00am
  • He has started to pull up to kneeling and then to standing on toys, furniture, stools, etc. This is his new favorite past time and is getting stronger and stronger all the time.
  • He is super super busy all the time and we’ve really got to keep our eyes on him at all times.  He has learned how to open cabinets so we’ve started the baby proofing process
  • He babbles a lot and has some cute baby jibberish. He says mama, dada, baba, gaga, rah rah, among some other things we can’t understand. I really don’t think he knows what mama and dada mean, but Jon swears that he knows that I’m mama.
  • He’s been on quite the mama phase though and most times prefers to be held by me. He will reach for me if someone else is holding him and I’m not gunna lie…it is a special feeling to be wanted by my little man.
  • He’s starting to show some little boy characteristics and we are having a great time with him.

We are just so in love with our precious busy boy. He amazes us all the time and we are constantly reminded of how blessed we are to be his parents.

Video of Hudson saying Mama

Hudson has been babbling and saying different little baby words for the past month or two. Yesterday after work all he had on his mind was his mama I guess :)

Hudson’s First Easter

I didn’t realize that I was so excited for Hudson’s first Easter until it was practically here. I think many people have fond memories of Easter when they were kids and I will be excited to create some fun memories with him as he gets bigger. Since he’s so little this year I was mostly excited about putting together an Easter basket for him with some fun toys and books. I’m sure next year will be crazy and fun with egg hunts and chocolate treats!

Saturday we were in Boerne at Jon’s parent’s house and had a great time with his mom’s side of the family. Before all of us “kids” got to do our egg hunt, all of the adults had to hunt eggs first which made me smile to watch! After everyone filled their basket with tons of goodies, we had a great BBQ and enjoyed catching up with the aunts, uncles and cousins.

On Sunday we took the short drive to Kerrville to see my Dad and his side of the family. There was more egg hunting for the kids and again for the adults and another fantastic meal. We were so lucky to be able to see so many of our family members in such a fast weekend. It was a very special Easter!
