Well, our little Punkin Pie has reached the halfway mark to his 1st year of life and man, has it ever gone by fast!! We had Hudson's 6 month check-up today and here are his stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 9 oz (20th percentile)
Height: 25 1/2 inches (10th percentile)
Head Circumference: 44 3/4 cm (88th percentile!!)
Here are some updates on what Hudson has been up to this past month...
- He has his two middle bottom teeth
- Starting to scoot around and move when he's on his tummy. It's sorta like an army crawl but not quite all the way there yet. He can get where he wants to go by a combination of rolling, spinning, scooting, reaching, etc. It's cute to watch but exhausting at the same time...I can tell he wears himself out!
- He goes to bed at 8pm and will sleep usually until 7:30. Sometimes he will wake up at 5:30 or 6am for a quick feeding and then will go right back down until 7:30 or 8:00
- We started rice cereal when he was 5 months and he still doesn't like it. We are going to give oatmeal a try next
- Last week when he hit 6 months, we started veggies. First was peas and he is NOT a fan of them. After a few days of peas, we moved onto carrots and he likes those quite a bit. He is dead set on wanting to help hold the spoon and has quite the kung fu grip on it once his little fingers get around it.
- We are starting to introduce the sippy cup with water. He is enthusiatic about drinking from it until he realizes that it's only water and not something more tasty.
- He can almost sit by himself. He'll do it for a short bit and then will kind of fall to one side. Most times if we are helping him sit, he will push his body weight back towards us in order to stand up....he loves to stand and has loved it for a couple months now
- I am still nursing and keeping up with pumping at work. I am SO happy and proud that I made it to my goal of 6 months. Now, I'll just take it as it comes. My plan is to continue to do it as long as I can and as long as I am able to maintain pumping at work.
- He is busy, busy, busy all the time. Whether we are holding him, he's in his stroller, on the ground, in his crib, etc, he is just busy. He's so curious about all of his surroundings and he wants to grab EVERYTHING and put it all into his mouth! Diaper changes have become very difficult lately...he will not stop moving around for even just a few seconds!
- He's now been in a swing for the first time, is sitting in his jogging stroller like a big boy, got in a swimming pool for the first time, went to the zoo and saw the beach. We had a busy past month full of some fun "firsts" for Hudson
- He giggles a lot and has a "tickle" spot. It's at the bottom of his ribs on his right or left side. Hearing him giggle and cackle is just pure joy.
- As you can tell by the pictures, he is still a smiling fool! He really does smile and grin all the time
- No more pacifier! We have been pretty go with the flow about his paci and weren't obsessed with taking it away if he still wanted it. Luckily though, he's kind of phased it out on his own, and that is fine with us!
- Sleeps with a stuffed animal now which is pretty darn cute
- Likes to move around. Whether he's being held, sitting in his stroller, or in the baby bjorn, he is usually most satisfied if we are walking around or moving.
- We are so proud and happy to be Hudson's parents. Life is so great for our family, and we are just soaking it all in.
Here are pics from his 6 month birthday last week. It is a great example of how squirmy and busy he is. I'm sure all of these pictures were taken in a matter of 30 seconds...trying to get him to lay on his back is nearly impossible because he'll flip over almost immediately!
