Fun in San Antonio and Austin

So we wanted a quick escape from the everyday grind to celebrate our anniversary and decided on a visit to San Antonio to stay on the Riverwalk. Luckily, we had a voucher for a free night at the Omni La Mansion del Rio (they had goofed with the readiness of our rooms at Julie's bachelorette party and I got a free voucher out of it). Well, I guess they really wanted to make it up to us, because they just went over the top...when we got there they handed us a card and it was a Happy Anniverary card signed by all of the front desk staff! Then after a few hours of walking on the riverwalk, drinking, and visiting the Market Square, we came back only to find champagne chiling for us with some snacks. We were impressed by that! And then our door knocked and they delivered chocolate covered strawberries! They were some fun and unexpected suprises for sure! We had a nice time on the riverwalk, but did expect a little more excitement considering that is was Cinco de Mayo and all. I guess the normal Cinco de Mayo celebration was cancelled due to concerns about the swine flu! Well we later went to dinner at a great steak place that multiple friends recommended...The Little Rhein. It was a wonderful steak and great service (and full tummies!) On Wednesday we headed back to Austin and hung around the south congress area and had some great mexican food at Polvo's and then tried our first cupcake from the Hey Cupcake guy! (He makes yummy cupcakes and sells them out of an airstream trailor on south congress). To top off our mini-vacation we went to Milk and Honey Spa downtown and had massages, facials and manicures...the "couples retreat!" I was excited that Jon was up for that new experience and we really enjoyed being pampered! A wonderful two days that we had to escape the normal routine!

Gotta love being able to do a little shopping while having a Dos Equis!

Margaritas on Cinco de Mayo are a must!

And some more margs that looked like they could glow in the dark!

Suprise Champagne and then strawberries
Cheers!
