Hudson turned 9 months old on June 10th and we went in for his 9 month check up last week. His noggin is still growing at a pretty rapid pace in comparison to his height and weight, but we know that just means he is super smart! Here are his stats:
- Weight – 17 lbs 4 oz – 20th percentile
- Height – 27 1/4 inches – 10th percentile
- Head Circumference – 46 cm – 80th percentile
Here are some things Hudson was up to in-between 8 and 9 months of age:
- His top 2 teeth started coming through and we now have a pretty good view of them
- He gets stronger all the time. His preferred position to be in is standing while holding on to some piece of furniture or toy.
- He’s now started to cruise around our ottoman and transfer from holding onto the ottoman to then holding onto the couch.
- He eats three meals a day and likes oatmeal and almost all fruits and veggies in the stage 2 foods. We’ve also tried finger or table foods such as banana, peas, avocado, pears, and he still loves puffs and now likes mum mums. He also really really likes yogurt.
- I’m still breastfeeding but am starting to phase that out while we use up the remainder of the milk that has been stocked up in our freezer.
- He is still babbling the same consonants that he was last month, but his most consistent “words” are mama, baba, and bye bye.
- He is a pretty good independent player if he has the right toys with him. He is so curious about things and really likes to examine and check them out. He likes to hold two things in one hand…such as two blocks or two small balls. Sometimes he tries to do this with toys that are too large for him to handle and its pretty funny to watch him try to figure out how he can do it.
- He will still bounce around in his activity jumper when we are in the kitchen and will hang out in the exersaucer while I get ready for work.
- Still napping twice a day and finally he is napping better at home. He’ll nap around 1-2 hours in the AM and usually 1 hour in the PM. He goes to bed at 8 still and gets up around 7 or 8am.
- We finally had our first official babysitter for a date night out. (We’ve been on plenty of dates or outings since he’s been born, but have either had family or friends watch him which is great, but we were ready to have some teenager babysitters also). We actually had two girls come over the first time because they are friends, so we showed them the ropes together. They are great and we are looking forward to more date nights soon.
- He is officially crawling more often now as opposed to the army crawl that he had been doing for several months. And he sure is fast!!
- He is very curious and interested in the refrigerator. If he’s on the ground and we open it, he will crawl over there quickly to try and check out the condiments in the door. And if we are holding him while we open the door, he practically lunges out of our arms to try and grab onto the ketchup or mustard. It’s hilarious!
- We’ve switched him to this cute little duck bathtub. The first couple of weeks we used it were great, but now he is obsessed with trying to stand up while he’s in the bath. Needless to stay, we have to keep our hands on him every second that he’s in the tub. But, at least he still loves bath time and enjoys splashing around with his toys.
- We woke up one night last month to him standing up in his crib for the first time so we had to lower the mattress. Now he takes a little bit longer to fall asleep for naps or at night because he’s so busy pulling up to standing in his crib.
- We got him a wagon for Christmas and just started taking him on wagon rides around the block and he loves it!
- Likes to play with bowls and tupperware while sitting on the kitchen floor. I think every kid loves to do this at some point or another.
- Is having more fun trying to play with Kaiser and Boots. He’s accidentally played tug of war with Kaiser a few times. He’ll be holding onto Kaiser’s toy and Kaiser comes over and plays tug of war with him. It gives us little snippets of the friendship they will have in the future!
- He crawls over things to get what he wants and where he wants and a couple of times he has gotten stuck in-between the legs of the barstools
- Loves playing with the phone and the remotes
- He likes the water although we’ve only taken him to the pool a few times due to the crazy heat.
Here is a picture rundown of Hudson’s 8th month (May 10-June 10). I was going to put captions saying what was going on in them, but I think the pictures speak for themselves! Needless to say, you can get a glimpse of our busy boy in action!
