Interesting title for a post, right? Well it goes along with quite an interesting night we had on Saturday. Our friend Ryan who's in a band invited us to a "gig" they were playing at, but Jon couldn't tell me any of the details until Saturday afternoon right before the party. That's when I found out it was some customer appreciation party at someone's house and the band was the entertainment. I told Jon, "No, we can't go...that's awkward...we would be the party crashers and I would feel weird if someone called us out." Well needless to say, we did end up going after Ryan assured us there should be around 200 people there. We thought, well, we might as well check it out and if it's weird, we'll just bail. So, Jon, Dave and I cruised over around 8pm and Ryan was right, it was a huge party! As we were walking up, Jon said I bet Ryan calls me out on the microphone when we walk up. Sure enough, one of the other band members said "Well, we see Jon Lamb made it out tonight...thanks for coming!" It made me giggle. So basically it was a chill and very fun backyard party and it was no big deal that we were there. The Wheeler Brothers Band sounded great! We were hangin around and some kid asked us if we had seen the fireworks in the garage yet...and of course we hadn't been snooping in these peoples' garage, so the kid took us and showed us a huge amount of fireworks that were to be lit later on in the culdesac. (Sweet! I looove fireworks!) They also had this huge cage thing with black cats all over it. See below...
Tables of fireworks right before the craziness began

Yay....fireworks make me happy!

Check out the video to see part of the black cat explosion
After the awesome fireworks show the band went back on to play some more music. Earlier in the evening, Jon had said to Dave and I, "Man, I wonder if I could maybe play the bongos later on with the band?!" So after many brewskies later, Jon Lamb made his debut on the bongos with the Wheeler Brothers! He also took a stab at the tamborine!

Having a blast!

So, it did turn out to be a big party! Check out all the people!

My favorite picture of the night...that man takes his tamborine seriously!

Dave even joined in on the fun for a few beats...
Jon and Ryan

Needless to say, it was one of the most unexpected, random and fun nights we've had in a long time. Christina--we missed you, but are very glad Dave tagged along with us! That night made me realize that I can be too uptight or worried about plans sometimes, and I really just need to go with the flow more...unexpected things can happen!
Looks and sounds like ya'll had a blast! I can't believe how many fireworks they had and how many people were there!! Great pictures!
